How to remove old parquet?

  • November 1, 2018

Once it was rarely possible to find a large number of varnishes on the shelves of construction stores. The old parquet with wear loses its aesthetic properties and use in use. One way or another, it has to be dismantled to install a new one after 10-15 years of use. Despite all the difficulty of work at the first glance, they can be made by themselves without the use of brigades of professionals. Parquet work should be entrusted to people who have experience.

For this you need:

-hammer

-Self -tapping screws

-Small ax

It is not always necessary to dismantle the entire parquet. Depending on the varnish used, it is possible to replace some of its parts. For example, if only part of the parquet is spoiled, and the other is still as a new one, you can simply replace its defective part without damage to the rest of the coating. One way or another, the repair will be cheaper than a complete replacement.

When you change the parquet – the main thing is not to damage the lower part of the rivet into which the nail is clogged. For this, the nails should be scored.

If the rivet is glued, although this was not characteristic before, then trim the nails through them. And flip the rivets themselves with a hammer or an ax.

The most difficult options will be if the parquet was laid on the resin. Then it will probably be advisable to dismantle the entire gender. This was usually done in places of mass accumulation of people to increase strength. It is practically not realistic to knock the rivet, so you should find one most possible to knock down and make the rest in size. In addition to the diameter, rivets should match the size, since the parquet does not tolerate irregularities. Typically, the difference between the size of the rivets can reach several millimeters, but you should still try to avoid the difference as much as possible. How even the coating will be affected by this.

If it is necessary to replace only one or more planks in the parquet itself, then simply “cut down” them from there with an ax, clearing the remains below. Then attach the new one with nails. It is important to fix the bar so with nails so that the hat is not visible. To do this, just flatter the hat, and smear the mounting place with varnish. When lighting with varnish, remove all the garbage from the surface and wipe the place with a degreasing agent.

That’s all, nothing complicated, and the parquet shines again as before.
