Before lining the wall of drywall with tiles, pay attention to the following:
Drywall should be moisture -resistant – use hydrophobic impregnation.
Plasterboard sheets can lead after the glue dries, so the racks for fastening should be not more than 400 mm for 12 mm thick, for thinner sheets, step 250-300mm.
Check the geometry of the wall with level, if necessary, align. The surface should be smooth and even, without damage.
All joints between the sheets should be covered with a special composition for GKL, this will increase the integrity and stability of the structure.
Bright the surface.
Choose glue:
After the preparatory work is completed, the question arises: how to glue the tile to drywall. A huge role in the reliability of attaching the clad is played by the choice of glue. The main criterion – the adhesive must be intended for rooms with high humidity. Prepare the glue portioned, batch at 1m2, on the recommendation of the manufacturer.
Cement -based glue:
Applied to a paper base. He reliably glues the tile to the drywall surface. It is important to prevent the glue to dry out, it should be plastic.
Elastic tile glue:
Sold in bags, in dry form or ready in buckets. The price of elastic glue is higher and it is much stronger than cement. It is advisable to use elastic glue for walls from GKL, its composition compensates for small drywall deformations.
Liquid nails:
A very expensive, but reliable option for gluing tiles and ceramic tiles. As a rule, it is used in small areas and when replacing the damaged cladding.
How to glue:
A rail is fixed to the bottom of the wall from the floor to the distance of one tile height. The level check the horizontal rail.
Start laying from the wall opposite the door.
Glue the tile from the corner, in one direction and up.
Apply the adhesive to the wall and tiles with a gear spatula, a layer of 5-10mm.
Separate tiles with wretches, rows and seams will be even.
IMPORTANT: Fill the inter -sequinus with glue, the wall will be more tight and stronger, the tiles will be better with each other.
After a day, lay the seams with a special sealed grout, this prevents the ingress of dirt and moisture under the facing and ensures the durability of the coating.
