In addition to the security function, the metal door is installed to maintain heat in the house. External insulated doors are necessary in every apartment.
The fact that the main heat loss (about 30%) occur through the doors, everyone knows. The reason for this, as a rule, is the gap in the doorway, as well as the loose fit of the metal doors to the door box.
You need to start insulation of the entrance metal door with the sealing of the mounting seam between the door frame and the doorway. The use of mounting foam will help to ensure the most reliable thermal insulation.
Performing high -quality filling of the mounting seam
Remove the platbands and remove the plaster, which was taken to the mounting seam
thoroughly clean the seam from the materials and garbage there;
slightly moisturizing the surface of the walls and door box with a sprayer, apply the mounting foam.
After a day, when the foam heshes, cut off its excess with a knife, and close the seam with a construction mixture. On the inside, it is recommended to use putty or plaster, from the outer – cement mixture.
Tip: foam should be applied around the entire perimeter with an uniform layer from top to bottom. The thickness of the formation should not be more than 40 mm, because the volume of foam increases by 2-3 times. If the gap is more than 60 mm, the foam should be applied in thin layers in several tricks. After each layer, it is necessary to pause at 10 minutes.
Elimination of the gap between the door and the door box.
In metal doors between the box and the door leaf, a special sealing profile is provided, if the heat leaks from the room occurs from the damage. If this happened and the integrity of the insulation is broken – buy a self -adhesive rubber seal (good reviews about POM1N -500 08.107) and glue it. To do this, just remove the protective liner.
Important: buy only black rubber seal, because the dyes reduce its operation.
Direct door insulation
There are several structures of metal entrance doors. In ordinary doors inside there is no heat -insulating filling. Our task is to show how to establish it.
1.Just insulate the door, in which one side of the door leaf can be removed. The whole process of insulation consists of several actions:
unscrew the removable sheet (it is usually fixed on self -tapping screws);
Put the insulation in the formed cavity. Usually this is mineral insulation or polystyrene (polystyrene). With its loose distribution, the resulting intervals should be filled with mounting foam;
Install the removed sheet in place using self -tapping screws.
2.If the door is indifferent, and you do not want to use the services of professionals – the insulated door with your own hands can be done in this way:
A profile rectangular pipe is attached along the perimeter of the outer side of the door leaf (possibly welding), which will play the role of the supporting element;
We put the insulation in the resulting outlet;
On top of the door we install laminated fiberboard (or MDF), fix it and attach it with metal screws.
Tip: To make the sheet more evenly, you need to attach it from top to bottom.
