Showers today are very popular among the population. And this is understandable – after all, the place in the bathroom is saved and functionality at the height. However, there is one point due to which the purchase of a cab is often excluded-this is its installation. Hiring specialists is expensive, and independent installation seems too complicated and the result unpredictable ..
However, a qualitatively collected shower cabin is real! It is quite possible to assemble such a design yourself, you just need to know in what sequence to do everything and understand some important nuances. Let’s figure it out more details ..
The sequence of the process does not begin at all with installation work, but with the choice of the cabin itself and the place where it will be fixed ..
What kind of shower cabin do you need
Showers are divided into open and closed -type designs. The first option is when the cabin does not have a back or side wall, and the walls for showers replaces the wall of the bathroom directly. It is clear that the installation of a product of this type is possible only around the perimeter of the room.
But closed hand -type cabinet can be installed anywhere, even in the middle of the room. Such designs are completely isolated and even have a top cover that blocks the outflow of steam. But of course this option is suitable only for large rooms.
The following is important to pay attention to is what the cabs of the cabin are made of. There are only two options here – glass or plastic. Glass is better in the sense that it scratches less and looks more pleasant – and it’s easier to care for a glass door. But plastic has a tremendous advantage – it costs much cheaper. And by the way, with neat operation, the plastic sash will have a decent appearance for many years ..
As for the design features of the doors, they can be open and sliding. And you need to choose here relying not on the taste, but on the area of the bathroom, since the opening wings require free space in front.
Another important factor is the choice of pallet. This element is mainly made of these materials:
cast iron. Such pallets are very stable and, as they say, “eternal”. However, there is a small drawback – the cast -iron surface warms up for a long time and if you dropped in a shower for a couple of minutes, you will have to endure the cold of the metal under your feet;
Steel pallets warm up faster and are quite inexpensive, but there is also a minus – under the pressure of water, such a bottom rumble;
ceramic and plastic products are also inexpensive, but their strength is not too good. With a sufficiently strong mechanical load, the pallet can be easily damaged. Moreover, if the installation of the pallet of the shower cabin is made in the apartment with your own hands, then you can deform the element during installation – so you need to be as accurate as possible;
In addition, pallets can be found both marble and acrylic, but it turns out that you still need to look closely at several general parameters: resistance to damage, warming speed and the presence of relief on the surface (excludes sliding).
Possible installation sites
There is also nothing complicated here, since most often the cabin implies not so many installation options.
For example, for small rooms, the most convenient point is the installation of the cab in the corner of the room, because the remaining area is more rationally consumed. If there is a niche in the bathroom, then, of course, you need to consider the possibility of installing the cabin in this place. The main thing is to understand that it is undesirable to make the cabin area less than 80 by 80 centimeters, because it will be very inconvenient and uncomfortable to use such a small shower.
If the area allows and there are funds due to which a closed cab is purchased – installation is possible in the middle of the bathroom. Moreover, in this way it is possible to visually divide the room into several functional zones, the border between which will be just the cabin.
In general, the principle is simple-the cab must be set where it least interferes. And of course, one should not forget about the convenience of laying and the safety of communications. After all, if the pipes will reach through the entire room and reliably protect them, then there is a great risk sooner or later to damage them.
So, we got acquainted with theory, go to practice ..
Necessary tools and materials
In order for the shower cabin to be as high quality as possible, it is important to take care of the presence of some tools and consumables, and these are in particular the following things:
punch and screwdriver;
set of screwdrivers and wrench;
level, roulette and pencil;
bolts, anchor and hammer;
Pacli and silicone for isolation of all compounds;
Flexible hoses for water supply.
In principle, with such a “gentleman’s set” you can proceed to the first stage ..
Installation of the pallet
As an obvious example, we consider the installation of a standard pallet, without any “bells and ground”. The first thing to do is to block the water supply to the bathroom. Then we clear the place where the pallet will stand, from garbage and unnecessary elements.
After that, we attach all the parts of the drain in the hole of the pallet, that is, tightly tighten all the nuts and connections (for greater reliability you can even lubricate everything with silicone). Then you need to make sure that the hole of the sewer pipe is exactly under the drain of the pallet – if everything is in order, then the pallet can be lowered and the pipe with the drain.
When and this is ready, you need to set the correct level, the position of the pallet using adjustable legs. And this is important not only for normal drainage of water – the correct connection of the shower cabin to the sewage system is also important so that the cabin itself subsequently stands as smooth as possible – without serious vertical deviations.
In principle, that’s all ..
However, you can still treat the gaps between the pallet and the floor with silicone – it will be more stable, and the leak in the room is excluded.
We proceed to the next stage ..
Installation of the panel and wings
If we are talking about a standard cabin, in the kit of which, in addition to the wings, there is a panel with a shower, a mixer and a fan, then the assembly process and installation of a shower cabin will independently occur in approximately the following order:
We install all the walls on the pallet, and then fix them with each other, but at the same time it is not necessary to screw them to the pallet – we will do this after it becomes clear that the whole structure works regularly;
We collect the main front frame and insert into existing grooves and stationary glasses;
Using silicone, seal all seams, holes and joints between stationary glasses and grooves, in those places where there are screws or bolts;
If there is a lid in the cab, then install and fasten it;
we insert the sash and check if there are any problems when they are opened/closed.
If everything is in order, everything works and is securely fixed, then we can assume that the wings, the frame and the panel are almost collected – the last stage remains ..
Connection of water supply
Here you need to act very carefully and not overdo it. In particular, it is about tightening nuts – since now a particularly strong metal is rarely used, it is worth a little more pressed with the key on the nut, as it will immediately break. But the weak puff is not suitable ..
It turns out that you need to be able to find the “golden mean”, so that the element remains and does not flow anywhere.
But suppose that this moment has been passed, the sealant is completely everywhere (!) dried, and water supply hoses are connected to the panel and all compacted on the spot. We turn on the faucets, shower and if it doesn’t flow anywhere and everything works fine, then ..
