Characteristics of construction sand, features of choice
When buying, you must request from the supplier all the documentation confirming the quality of the goods. Its density should not exceed 1300 kg/cube. m.
The content of gravel and other large particles is not higher than 0.5%, and the glue by weight should not exceed 5%. Using a sieve analysis, the size of the particles is determined:
– Sand of thin crushing (from 1 mm);
– small – from 1.5 mm;
– average – up to 2.5 mm;
– large – from 2.5 to 5 mm.
There is a simple test with which you can determine the quality. Stir a handful in a jar of water, which should not end up quickly! So be extremely attentive when choosing construction sand.
Remember that the quality of this building material largely determines the integrity and strength of all solutions, based on which it lies.
