If you use different types of working tools and application techniques, it will not be possible to get the same result, no matter how try. And all because the appearance of this mixture on the walls or ceiling will depend directly on the granules and the shape of the grains.
For the first time, pick up mixtures and construction tools? It is worth saying right away – the finishing work is not the most difficult, but one of the most important in the repair, since it will depend on them how the room will look like. The same applies to decorative plaster – the importance of it should not be underestimated.
The main thing to adhere to, so that the result of the work is of high quality:
The mixture should be applied to a clean and dry surface so that over time, a fungus does not appear, which, by the way, can affect people’s health in the most detrimental way. Although the use of this material has its advantages – you should not carefully close all the irregularities, plaster, especially decorative, can easily hide most of the flaws. But it is best to primed the ceiling before direct application – this will help the materials better to cross.
The mixture itself before use is carefully and thoroughly mixed using a screw. At the same time, you need to mix at low speeds so that the tool does not damage the granules – it can harm the desired texture, spoiling the shape.
The processes for applying a decorative solution are somewhat reminiscent of a putty: smooth movements are the required amount of plaster to the surface of the ceiling from the bottom up, after which it must be gently flat.
But the most important thing is ahead. And this, as you know, is giving the material the necessary form (structure). To do this, you can use tools such as plastic grater, spatula and roller.
The effects of the finish can be different. Approaching it in circular movements, you can create the effect of “shells”. Using a plastic grater, and conducting rotational or progressive movements on the ceiling, get either circular or direct grooves. Even rotational movements with various tools will give a different result. Using a roller, you can get an unusual pattern, but using a spatula – a simple and even surface.
Similar plaster also has other properties. On the ceiling, you can easily create the illusion of a marble, granite or mother -of -pearl surface. True, applying it requires professional skills, and therefore, if you do not want to spoil the appearance of the room, best use the services of builders. Then, after drying, the material can be covered with wax – this helps to create the effect of “gloss”, and also serves as additional protection, and the care in this case is greatly simplified.
Something about the plaster that you should know
When choosing this material for finishing the ceiling, first of all, ask yourself the question – what time you are ready to spend on repairs? And all because the drying time is primarily dependent on the type of plaster. Completely decorative coating can dry in at least a week. It is after this that it can either be covered with protective varnish, or paint, as many do, wanting to give the ceiling an even more spectacular look.
Usually its color is white, however, you can easily give the plaster any shade – just add the right paint to it when stirring, but it is better to knead a little solution and try it out in a small area so as not to make a mistake with the proportions.
