A study conducted by scientists from the University of Technology Sydney has shown that simple houseplants significantly reduce the amount of dangerous toxic pollutants – carcinogens.
According to the World Health Organization, terrible air quality causes 6.7 million premature deaths worldwide. Particularly dangerous are gasoline fumes that enter living spaces in cities.
Plants were able to clean the air of dangerous pollutants in a short time, including carcinogenic benzene, which is removed even faster than less harmful substances.
Interestingly, the higher the concentration of toxic substances in the air, the more effectively the plants remove them, and this is due to their ability to quickly adapt to the conditions in which they are grown.
To clean the air as effectively as possible, scientists recommend placing houseplants in the rooms where you spend the most time. In addition, they should be distributed so that they are at different heights and in different parts of the room.
