Recently, the type of ceiling is widespread as the installation of the stretch structure.
There are two main varieties of materials used in the manufacture of suspended ceilings. The most common PVC film is now. Polymer used in the manufacture makes it possible to implement any design ideas. In addition, PVC film has a number of advantages, such as the ease of installation, strength, the possibility of transformation in accordance with the architectural idea. But such a material also has a drawback – it cannot provide normal circulation of air in the room. An analogue of the polymer film is a fabric ceiling, or as it is usually called, breathing. This technology provides natural ventilation, moreover, it has a thousand -year history.
Types and types of tissue stretch ceilings
The fabric base is homogeneous or equipped with perforation, which contributes to better sound absorption. A visually breathing ceiling can have the following design options:
white matte;
color (a gamma of up to 40 different colors is proposed);
translucent;
ornament, drawing or photo printing at the request of the customer.
The scope of breathing ceilings
The fabric ceiling will look appropriate both in the decoration of the rooms and in the kitchen, and is also suitable, for example, for a restaurant or cinema hall. Due to the fact that the material of the breathing ceiling has antibacterial properties, it can be installed in the nursery. Even in rooms where strict observance of sanitary and epidemiological norms, for example, in the wards of hospitals or operating rooms, is necessary, fabric ceilings are used.
It is worth noting that the fabric ceiling will fit into any style and effectively emphasize it. Another advantage of the breathing flow is its resistance to adverse conditions: such a ceiling can be used in unheated loggias and terraces, in the country, as well as in rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms and a pool.
Textile material for the breathing ceiling is, in fact, the smallest mesh made of natural or artificial (polyester) fibers. On both sides, this grid is impregnated with special substances. The density of the resulting canvas is 240 g/m2, and the thickness ranges from 150 to 200 μm. Such material does not miss 90 % of the light, and the sound absorption coefficient is approximately 0.6. Rolls of different widths are formed from the finished fabric. The main sizes are as follows:
3000 mm.;
3500 mm.;
4000 mm.;
4500 mm.;
5100 mm.
The width that can be blocked by a fabric ceiling without the use of seams is 4950 mm. For comparison, a stretch ceiling from a polymer film is able to cover only a little more than 3000 mm. Because of this, the fabric ceiling is often called seamless. However, such good quality and strength of the canvas make its price noticeably higher. Therefore, in most cases, the breathing ceiling will cost significantly more than its analogue from the polymer.
GOSTs and regulatory documents, quality certificates
The fabric canvas has good resistance to fire. This quality is confirmed by certificates of conformity to the G2, B1, D3, T2 and M1 group (does not contribute to combustion). Sanitary and bacteriological security is confirmed by GOST ISO: 9001. Also, high -quality material should have a “EU” marking, this means that it can be used in residential premises.
Ways to attach tissue stretch ceilings
There are two ways to install a textile ceiling: using a glazing pike or clip. In this case, the heating of the room is not required.
In the first case, the edges of the fabric canvas are filled into the grooves of the baguette walking around the perimeter of the ceiling. The tension occurs due to the use of a graduate (wedge), with which the fabric is driven into the grooves. It is believed that this is a more economical and technologically simple way to mount. When marking the material, it is worth leaving a supply of at least 100 mm. From all sides. Unlike PVC film, the elasticity of the fabric ceiling is less. After the ceiling is stretched, the excess material is cut off, and the gap between the wall and the ceiling mount is covered with a decorative plug.
The second method of fastening involves the use of special latches (clip), which are placed at the same distance from each other around the perimeter of the ceiling. Clips firmly attach the fabric to the surface. The clips themselves are attached to the walls or ceiling. Before starting work, it is necessary to conduct accurate measurements, since after installation it is not provided for the use of decorative plugs to hide the fasteners or the junction of the joint with the wall. If necessary, it is possible to install a baguette that will perform decorative functions.
Operation and care
The term for using tension structures from fabric is unlimited. The canvas does not need special processing, it is possible to dry or wet cleaning. The option of cleaning the canvas is also provided with a vacuum cleaner, but, at the same time, you should not attach excessive pressure on the fabric. It is also allowed to use non -aggressive detergents in order to clean. In the best way in this situation, a weak solution of soap water is suitable.
Installation of a breathing ceiling
When installing a fabric stretch ceiling, a cold method is used. The whole procedure, in fact, is similar to pulling the canvas on the frame. For fastening of the breathing ceiling, you will need: a punch from the sets of drills and suitable anchor parts (screws or dowels of grooves), a screwdriver, stacks for compaction of fabric in the grooves of the frame, roulette, level, fastener frame, baguette (if the wedge method is used), glue and, of course, the fabric itself.
Before starting work, it is necessary to mark on the walls to install the mounting profile. In the case when clips are used and the ceiling is uneven, the clips are fixed on the walls. First, the lower point of the future ceiling is noted – the gap between the stretch ceiling and the main should be at least 50 mm. Using the level, a line is drawn along the walls along which the installation profile will pass. The capital ceiling is prepared – it is cleaned of paint and plaster.
Installation instructions for the stretch structure
The principal installation scheme is quite simple:
Along the perimeter of the ceiling or walls, the main profile is fixed – the baguette.
The ceiling fabric is marked according to the necessary sizes. The edges of the canvas are refueled in the grooves of the supporting profile. A stock of about 100 mm should be present from all sides., This is necessary for the convenience of fastening.
A special wedge is placed in the profile groove, thus, the fabric is tightly fixed.
On the other side of the ceiling, the same actions are carried out, but the right tension of the canvas is monitored.
Tissue tension is controlled, distortions and waves are unacceptable. If defects are detected, the fastening operation is repeated until the necessary result is achieved.
Excess canvas are cut with a knife.
The gap between the profile and the wall is covered with a decorative element.
The main advantage of the breathing ceiling is its strength, it is not afraid of temperature changes and high humidity. The installation of such a ceiling can be carried out under various meteorological conditions. The textile ceiling does not lose its properties with constant humidity, for example, with a small leak from the upper floors. The proposed gamut of colors is quite extensive, but limited to the manufacturer of the ceiling. However, some types of canvases allow photo printing. Also, the fabric ceiling is antistathen, which means that it does not collect dust. The fabric is prone to fading, but at the same time, the fabric ceiling can be painted (up to five layers), and application is also possible with decorative elements.
